Week 7 Big 12 rankings: The rap video version

We’re a quarter of the way through the conference season, and only three teams (Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Missouri) are unbeaten in conference. Each of those teams is 6-0 midway through the schedule. So what did we learn in Week 7? Follow the rapper, yo. This week’s rankings are brought to you by rap videos, […]

Big 12 rankings, week 6: The “Swingers” edition

As I sit here and type, I’m watching the Chiefs-Colts game and wondering if Todd Haley is drunk. An onside kick on the road against Indianapolis on the opening kickoff? Going for it on fourth-and-2 down 3-0 in the first quarter … and HAVING MATT CASSEL THROW on that play when you’ve got two great

Week Four Big 12 rankings, the “Ace Ventura” edition

Texas got smoked by UCLA, Oklahoma survived Cincinnati, K-State survived a close call against Central Florida, Nebraska looked lackluster. Not a banner week for the Big 12 as it heads into conference play. Week One was “Tommy Boy” edition http://tinyurl.com/29anpkt, Week Two “Dumb and Dumber” http://tinyurl.com/2aamn56 and Week Three “Napoleon Dynamite” http://tinyurl.com/23rrux5. Week Four brings another

Big 12 rankings, Week 2: The “Dumb and Dumber” edition

Last week it was “Tommy Boy.” This week, another great 90s flick: “Dumb and Dumber.” A special thanks to the imbed Nazis at youtube who make writing a blog including your videos TWICE AS TIME-CONSUMING …  1. Oklahoma (2-0): Sure, Florida State, as usual, is overrated and plays in a conference that might as well drop to

Big 12 rankings, week one: The “Tommy Boy” edition

Seventy-three days between blogs. That’s how I roll. At least now we’ve got something to talk about … college football. I’ll try to update this weekly. That’s the promise I’m making to the three people who read this blog. Week One rankings, “Tommy Boy” edition: 1. Texas (1-0): The Longhorns struggled a bit without Colt McCoy

Coming to a theater near you: “Resurrection (how the Big 12 was saved … for now)”

Thousands of columns, stories and blogs have been written about conference expansion lately, particularly how the seemingly dead Big 12 (minus-2, or does Texas count for three?) was saved. The story had so many twists and turns, there should be a movie. So who’s going to play who in this epic? Here are a few ideas …

New years and the decade in review. From Independence to Topeka to Virginia to Oklahoma …

“Time, why you punish me, like a wave passing into the shore, you wash away my dreams …” I was going to blog about 2009. Seemed to make sense considering today is the last of the year. It was an interesting year. One that included everything from three apartments to two jobs to one (or

Please, ESPN, Youtube, et al, stop showing severe injury clips; More on Big Ten expansion

We live in a strange society. People slow down to see the carnage in wrecks, others can’t look away at awkward scenes in movies (Am I the only person who changes the channel when I know somebody is about to be embarrassed?), some listen to crap like Marilyn Manson. A lot of morbid stuff out

Big Ten expansion: Up to 16?; where Missouri fits in; seriously Beebe?

Miscellaneous notes, news and thoughts on Big Ten expansion and Missouri potentially leaving the Big 12: Megaconference coming?   Much of the speculation this week has been about the Big Ten adding Missouri, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, etc. But according to the Chicago Tribune’s Teddy Greenstein, the conference may look at adding up to five schools.

It could happen: Missouri should jump if Big Ten comes calling

Missouri to the Big Ten. If you’d asked me that two months ago, I’d say the odds were about 10,000-to-1. Last week, 100-to-1. But if the following report http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/chi-15-big-ten-foot-dec15,0,2684882.story is true and the conference looks to expand, Missouri needs to aggressively pursue an invite. Here’s a breakdown of some of the advantages and disadvantages
